I'm starting this blog as a record of what I've discovered in tweaking the software on an Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7". Amazon was smart in building a tablet that is known for robust hardware with an excellent screen and sound system to provide very portable entertainment. However, like many companies that don't see the Big Picture, they foolishly crippled the access to much of the software available on the web to use on the Kindle's Android operating system. So, to get full use out of the Kindle, one needs to tweak the software.
There is a confusing plethora of info available on how to do this but I found the "what to do" and "in what order" was not readily apparent. I've found a couple of web sites particularly valuable in providing information and software the most notable of which is:The XDA Developer's Kindle Fire Forum Thread. There one can find the information and software necessary. I found I needed some pruning to separate what was relevant from what wasn't.
